You must honestly evaluate how easy pace feels, whether sleep restores you, and if your movement remains symmetrical. When your readiness signals show multiple amber warnings, you should immediately adjust your expectations. This might mean starting conservatively, relying on perceived effort over rigid pacing, or stopping if symptoms escalate. Use the first 10 to 15 minutes of an event as a final calibration check. If your breathing and power exceed the planned effort, you must scale your ambitions back.

If a localized pain escalates during exercise or persists at rest, you must withdraw. You cannot safely outrun an aging musculoskeletal system with temporary willpower alone. Ultimately, true race readiness will always require experienced human judgment. No single biomarker can confirm overtraining syndrome or predict your race-day potential with absolute certainty. As technology evolves, we must remember that a consumer wearable evaluating your sleep stages is still just an estimation algorithm. You are the only one who truly knows if you are ready to stand on the starting line.
